Jumia Travel has launched a campaign to encourage and facilitate travel throughout the year.
Dubbed Travel Wednesday, it will run every Wednesday and Friday on the hotel booking site, carrying on readily negotiated rates referred to as Dream Deals.
Paul Midy, CEO of Jumia Travel noted, “This is designed to meet our customers’ demand to have access to affordable travel options through Jumia Travel.”
It follows the success of the company’s Black Friday campaign.
The campaign is also in line with the major goal of industry players to draw policies that contribute to inclusive and sustainable economic growth after 2017 was declared the Year of Sustainable Travel at the 70th United Nations General Assembly.
Travel Wednesday will initially run eight hotel deals which will be increased to 12 in the coming days.
It has been launched in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Senegal, Ethiopia, Ghana and Algeria; African countries in which Jumia Travel has been on the forefront in providing accommodation and travel packages within the means of most travellers.
Dream Deals will be co-marketed across the Jumia ecosystem. The Jumia Group rebranded from Africa Internet Group (AIG), by harmonizing its brands into the Jumia ecosystem with the vision to expand its horizons.
Over 25 per cent of Jumia Travel’s Black Friday bookings came from the Jumia ecosystem, making it vital for the company to work closely with its sister companies to increase traffic on this campaign too.
