Ralph Mupita Appointed MTN South Africa CFO

MTN has appointed Ralph Mupita to the Group Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director position.

Phuthuma Nhleko, Executive Chairman, MTN said, “I am delighted to have someone of Ralph’s calibre join the team. His background in financial services and emerging markets will stand Ralph in good stead in his new role as group CFO.”

Nhleko added that the company hopes its evolution and finalisation of its senior management team will be completed by the end of 2016.

Mupita has extensive experience in senior leadership roles in the financial services sector having had a 16-year career at Old Mutual. He is currently Chief Executive of Old Mutual Emerging Markets.

He worked on engineering and construction projects in South Africa before joining Old Mutual. He holds a BSc Engineering (Hons) and an MBA both from the University of Cape Town.

The new CFO will take over from Gunter Engling who is assuming the position in acting capacity. He will take the Deputy Chief Financial Officer position.

Mupita’s appointment will take effect from April 3, 2017.
