Trace has launched the first hybrid digital service dedicated to Afro-urban music and entertainment in Africa.
The service that encompasses Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD), Live TV and Live Radio has also been rolled out in the US, UK, France, Benelux, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean, with 200 more countries targeted for the launch by the end of the year.
In 2016, the French TV network acquired Buni.tv, the first ever Video On Demand (VOD) platform focusing on the African market, as it prepared to launch TracePlay.
Video on demand display systems allow users to select and watch or listen to video or audio content when they choose to instead of at specific broadcast times.
“TracePlay has been our most ambitious project since our inception. We are the first in the world to launch an hybrid platform SVOD , Live TV and Live Radio, with 7 geolocalized versions, simultaneously in over 200 countries and on multiple connected devices,” Olivier Laouchez, CEO, Trace said.
It is available across a range of platforms including Mac/PC; iOS; and Android smartphones and offers instant and unlimited access to 10 live music; sports TV channels; 31 live music radio channels; 2, 000 films, series, documentaries, concerts and TV shows- on demand.
TracePlay has invested in original productions and co-productions in movies and series based in Africa among them Wives on Strike and Crazy Lovely Cool.
The service available for $4.99 monthly subscription and annually for $49.99 can be watched simultaneously on three different screens
TracePlay is available for a free 7-day trial period.
