Lesotho’s Prime Minister Dr. Pakalitha Mosisili says the opening of 11 factory shells of the second phase of Tikoe Industrial Estate on Monday would create jobs for 5000 Basotho.

‘The project was initially estimated to cost $ 24 million, however due to various challenges encountered during the 36 months of the construction, the cost rose to $28.4 million’ he stated.

Prime Minister said among the companies allocated manufacturing space in the new estate; four of them are Basotho-owned which include senettam manufacturing, quattro and Tlotliso holdings while others are Chinese.

‘These projects will predominantly service regional markets and also take advantage of the recent 10 years re-authorization of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA),’ he added.
