Kenya Gets Sh51.72 Billion From EU

Kenya has received €435 million (Sh51.72 billion) through the National Indicative Programme, the European Union said yesterday.

The 11th EDF National Indicative Programme was signed by the EU and Kenya on June 19 last year in Nairobi.

The sectors to benefit are food security, agriculture, governance and infrastructure.

Kenya has received from the EU Water Facility €31 million (Sh3.69 billion) and EU Energy Facility €10 million (Sh1.19 billion)

It also benefits from Intra African, Caribbean and Pacific programmes such as “Reinforcing Veterinary Governance in Africa” with a budget of around €29 million (Sh3.45 billion).

EU is also set to launch an Emergency Trust Fund to tackle illegal migration and displacement.

One project from the Emergency Trust Fund has a budget of €30 million (Sh3.57 billion).
