Mozambique has upgraded the Maputo International Airport to accommodate the largest presenter plane in the world.
Transport and Communications Minister, Carlos Mesquita said the Airbus 380, after the conclusion of the current work on rehabilitating and expanding the runway, budgeted at US$65 million.
According to daily newspaper Noticias, the Minister visited the airport on Friday where he was briefed on the progress of work on the runway.
“The main purpose of this visit is to check on the ground the developments under way and the runway is being upgraded to meet today’s challenges”, he said.
Mesquita added that the work on the runway does not imply closure of the airport and at no time will the work paralyse the normal arrival and departure of aircraft.
