The 2-days Tech+ exhibition and conference kicked off today in Lagos with a charge that it becomes a critical space for the development of the youth technology start-ups, SMEs and to add value to life and transform the society.
In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary Lagos State Ministry of Science and Technology, Mrs Nike Animashaun stated that Lagos State has the mixture of enterprises with population growth on her side; hence the State has continued to deploy the IT tools to every aspect of the State.
According to her, the state government has effectively deployed several technology to the Health care sector, infrastructure development, manufacturing up to traffic management in order to deliver selfless service effectively and optimally to the people of the State.
Lagos State, she said, view technology as a critical space that will assist in the youth’s and entrepreneurial development, adding that she has also seen several applications being deployed in and out of Lagos by young technology start-ups who are working day and night for themselves in different spheres of technology.
“That is why Lagos State Government is supporting this initiative that Tech+ has put together. We also see organisations showing how technology has continued to help us to become better citizens, better family people. I hope that this event organised by Connect Marketing Services will be a sign post for the future and to also demonstrate that there is possibility in digital technology,” she added.
The Managing Director and CEO MTN Nigeria, Mr Mike Ikpoki in his address, noted that the theme “Leadership in digital technology” is quite apt hence MTN want to make TECH+ more than just a conference and exhibition.
Ikpoki said that looking at where we are today, technology is a driver of change not just in Nigeria but globally.
“What is so important is how to create an environment where we do not just talk about technology, but create an environment for a market place of idea; where people can learn about what take place in technology; where people can interact with colleagues, network with partners and identify new opportunities.
“Creating a market place where innovations, new ideas are created, products are created and opportunities are created. We don’t want to come here every year and listen to experts, but we want to do more, we want to create a platform where young people, SMEs can generate new ideas. So that anytime we come here we will be able to identify new product and services that can add value to the life of our people and that can transform our society.”
Commenting on the exhibition, the organizer, and MD Connect Marketing Services, Mr Tunji Adeginte stated that the mission is to provide a platform where organisations and individuals will showcase their products and aid us to do business better and play better.
