Ghana: Communications Minister Visits Vodafone, Tasks Telcos on 5G Target

Ghana’s Minister of Communications Mrs Ursula Owusu Ekuful, on a working visit to Vodafone Ghana headquarters at the Airport City, Accra has challenged telecommunication providers to work towards rolling out 5G services in the country.

Ekuful reiterated government’s support and commitment to the telecommunications industry on her working visit to.

The visit, which was also part of a familiarisation tour, afforded the minister to meet with executives of the telecommunication giant Vodafone to share in their success as a pacesetter in driving the digitisation agenda in the telecommunication industry.

Mrs Ekuful revealed that the government was determined to assist and improve the profits of telecoms to grow their business.

“Government is committed to helping telecom companies in any way so they can pay more taxes and expand their corporate social responsibilities.”

She expressed satisfaction at the investment Vodafone was injecting into the digitisation agenda to give the best to data users.

“I want Ghanaian data users to also enjoy 5G services as I experienced when I travelled to Barcelona…Vodafone Ghana through its funding and grooming young entrepreneurs, IT specialists and digital minds as well as plans revealed to me shows that Vodafone is committed to helping Ghana make strides in the communication industry”.

Yolanda Cuba, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Vodafone Ghana on her part, expressed delight to the minister’s working visit to the Vodafone team.

She noted that Vodafone Ghana was ready to champion Ghana’s digital revolution so it becomes a leader in Africa.

“Vodafone Ghana is very much concerned about improving the lives of Ghanaians through technology…through the launch of our new strategies; we are aligned specifically by enlightening Ghana’s digital transformation”.
