Greater digital health scale is crucial to drive longer-term socio-economic benefits for developing economies. One of such institutions leveraging digital to build mobile healthcare platforms is MobileDentists, Nigeria’s first mobile dentistry.

The Enamel Is Said To Be The Hardest Substance In The Body, It’s Believed To Be Even Harder Than The Bones. How True Is This?

Yes, very true, the enamel is the hardest substance. The strength of the enamel is due to its highest percentage of mineral content, mainly Calcium Phosphate. It still does not mean that it should be taken for granted.

If The Teeth Are This Strong, Why Should We Bother Taking Care Of Them

Hardest but also most vulnerable. The enamel is the first line defense against cavities. It is like an eggshell protecting the inner part of the tooth with regular care and attention; it should be well able to withstand normal levels of abuse throughout entire lifetime. But when neglected, acid from foods eaten can break it down. Also, It can chip in the event of an accident. Unfortunately, unlike bones, it can heal and grow back on its own. It is not indestructible and can be worn away by lack plaque acid and time.

 Tell Us About Oral Health

Oral health in simple terms is the overall health status of the mouth.

According to W.H.O (STANDARD DEFINITION), it is a state of being free from mouth and facial pain, oral and throat infections, gum disease, tooth decay and any disease that limits an individuals capacity in biting, chewing, smiling, speaking and psycho-social well-being.

Oral health touches every aspect of our lives but it is often taken for granted. The mouth is the window into the health of the body. It can show signs of nutritional deficiencies, infections, systemic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.

So whether you are young or old, your oral health is important.

How Bad Is The Rate Of Tooth Decay In Nigeria?

Tooth decay is the commonest cause of dental pain and the reason why many people will be prompted to see a dentist. However, from recent studies, 90% of tooth decay  (9 out of 10 people) in Nigeria goes untreated. It also shows that Nigeria is doing much worse than the global average of untreated caries.

How Does The Mobile Dentist Come In?

The Mobile dentist comes in to make sure everyone has the opportunity to access dental care without the major limitations of time, stress and phobia (fear). We bring dental care to you in the comfort of your home and at your convenience.

We offer consultations, scaling and polishing, restoration of cavities, teeth whitening, school education programs, referrals and many more.

How Do We Access Your Service?

What we are doing is basically riding on the wings of technology and the various opportunities it provides. So with the basic understanding of social networking apps such as Instagram, Facebook and the likes, consultation can start even without having a physical meeting.

We have developed a web app that allows direct communication with a dentist. It starts with a simple (taking a) selfie of your mouth and sending it to us and the conversation starts from anywhere and anytime.

  • Visit our web-app through
  • Book an appointment by taking a picture of your tooth/mouth with a brief description of the problem through the app.
  • Our system automatically notifies us of your appointment request and we immediately reach out to you
  • Based on the outcome of the consultation, we will come visiting to carry out our services or any necessary procedure at your home or agreed location.
  • Also for just general consultation, we have an in-built messaging system for remote discussion via chat and payment is done remotely through the app as well.
  • We keep a log of all our interactions with you should it be required for other purposes

How Expensive Are The Services Of The Mobile Dentist?

We provide very affordable services. Consultation through the web app starts as low as 2500 as against the 5,000/N10,000 from the hospitals. Other costs are based on the services we will be offering as required.

What Big Difference Do You Plan To Make In The Lives Of People?

The big difference is to deliver dental care to you using an unconventional method – timely, convenient, easily accessible and affordable. We also want to empower individuals by educating them with all they need to take care of their teeth.
