Melcom Flags-off Fifth Annual Made in Ghana Festival

The Fifth Annual Melcom Made in Ghana Products Festival, has opened in all the 36 Melcom Shopping Malls across the country.

The Melcom Made in Ghana Products Festival is being organised by the Melcom Group of Companies.

It used to be held annually in the fourth quarter of the year, however, the 2017 edition was brought forward as part of activities marking Ghana’s 60th Independence Anniversary.

The month long event, would showcase quality Made in Ghana products manufactured by 100 Ghanaian Companies and by Ghanaian citizens.

On display would be 1,500 products such as paper products, cosmetics, food and beverages, water, plastics, foam and mattresses.

Notable among the exhibits are Melcom Nsu and Bakers Basket Products, GIHOC products, Qualiplast, Poly star, Fan Milk, Frosty Bite, Guinness, Star, Club and Kasapreko products.

The rest are Golden Tree, Frytol, Sunny, Ashfoam, Nestle, Best Food Ghana, Century Plastic Products, Voltic, Unilever Products, Tomato Puree, Beauty Secrets, Beta Malt, Akono Ginger, Yumvita, Eva Pack and Akwaba Tissue.

Speaking at the opening of the festival in Accra, Mr Godwin Avenorgbo, the Director of Communications of the Melcom Group of Companies, on behalf of the Chairman of the Melcom Group of Companies, Mr Bhagwan Khubchandani, conveyed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and the people of Ghana warm felicitations.

“Our fore bearers made sacrifices to get us this far by the grace of God and the minimum we can do is fight the good fight with all our might to develop systems that are sustainable for the development of Ghana with the ultimate goal of eradicating poverty,” Mr Avenorgbo stated.

“As a good corporate citizen, Melcom is ready to support whatever machinery or system that will serve as the fulcrum for our Country’s development.

“As a Group of Companies that also believes in growing Ghanaian industries, we have created avenues for marketing Made in Ghana products with the view to helping create jobs for our teaming graduates at various levels of the educational structure,” he said.

He urged all and sundry to make a determination to support Ghanaian industries and by so doing put in place policy initiative that make the business environment favourable for the injection of capital for expansion and employment creation.

He noted that, last month, Melcom met its nationwide coverage target by opening a new shop in Wa in the Upper West Region, to complete the 10th regional capital branch; bringing the number of Melcom Shops nationwide to 36.

“I am happy to give notice that a new and a modern shop developed by a team of architectural and Construction Engineers will soon open at Achimota.

“The new Achimota Shopping Mall will be a fully fledged shopping area with insurance, retail banking, pharmacy, hospitality and facilities and services,” he added.
