Oracle Opens Office in Abuja

The industry’s broadest and most integrated public cloud, Oracle has opened an office in Abuja, Nigeria expanding its footprint in the country and the continent as a whole.

The office which will exclusively focus on driving cloud adoption across Nigeria’s Public Sector underscores the company’s commitment to Nigeria by enhancing its local capabilities and service offerings.

Cherian Varghese, Vice President, Technology, Africa, Oracle said, “Nigeria’s Public Sector is focused on delivering transparent, efficient and proactive services to its citizens. Our aim will be supporting the government implement its vision with a modern, secure, and cost-effective suite of cloud solutions built specifically for the public sector.”

Congratulating the company for being at the forefront of delivering technologically advanced cloud solutions, Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Shittu, Minister of Communications, the Federal Republic of Nigeria highlighted the importance of ICT innovation to driving investment, enhancing government revenue and identifying new growth avenues.

“By 2020, Nigeria will be one of the 20 largest economies of the world and we will be able to realize our full economic and social potential only if we become early adopters of modern technology,” he added.

The Oracle Abuja office located in Maitama becomes the company’s 13th in Africa.

It operates two each in Nigeria, Egypt and South Africa and single offices in Algeria, Kenya, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Morocco and Mauritius.

The company which has had a presence on the continent for over two decades was instrumental in driving digital transformation for key Nigerian government departments including NSITF, Lagos State and Edo State.

The new office will create jobs and is equipped with modern communications tools to enhance customer experience.
