Kenya Airways has appointed Sebastian Mikosz as its new Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
“Mikosz has over 20 years of professional experience in executive management in both the private and public sector,” Michael Joseph, Kenya Airways Board Chairman said.
Prior to joining Kenya’s flag carrier, Mikosz was the President and CEO of one of the oldest airlines in the world, LOT Polish Airlines. He held the position during an indepth turnaround of the company leading to its first positive results in many years.
Joseph added, “We have no doubt that under his leadership and guidance, the airline will strive to greater heights and achievements”.
Mikosz has also been CEO of eSky.pl, the leading Central European Online Travel Agent; Director in Deliotte Business Consulting Warsaw Office; and Vice President of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAlilZ), a government agency responsible for attracting foreign investors to Poland.
The 44 year-old is a graduate of the Institute of Political Studies (IEP Paris) in France with a Master’s degree in Economics and Finance. He is bilingual in French and a fluent speaker of English, Russian and his native Polish.
Mikosz replaces Mbuvi Nguze who has been with Kenya Airways for five years, the last two as CEO. He will stay on as advisor to the company until the airline’s capital optimization plan is actualized by July 2017 as expected.
The new CEO’s appointment which was facilitated by international search firm Spencer Stuart effective 1 June 2017.
