Ethiopia’s national carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, is launching five weekly direct and non-stop services to Singapore effective 1 June 2017.
“In our continuous effort of connecting the continent of Africa with its major trading partners around the world through direct services and with the youngest fleet of modern airplanes, we are glad that we are able to offer a direct and non-stop services to the Lion City, Singapore” said Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Tewolde GebreMariam.
He added that Ethiopia expects the route to contribute to the strengthening of trade, investment, and tourism ties between a booming Africa and a highly developed, innovative, and business-friendly Singapore, he added.
Singapore is one of the pre-eminent financial hubs in the world and a preferred gateway to Asia and Australia.
The new route by Ethiopian Airlines will provide passengers with the best possible connectivity between Asia and Africa, in partnership with Singapore Airlines whose Changi Airport hub is a major global aviation centre with the latest airport infrastructure and transfer services.
Ethiopians will fly the ultra-modern Boeing 787 on the route.
The global carrier that operates one of the youngest and most modern fleet in the continent recently added destinations to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe and Antananarivo, Madagascar.
In addition to Singapore, the carrier plans on launching flights to Chengdu, China and Jakarta, Indonesia this month.
