Algeria’s economy recorded a 1.5 percent growth in 2018 compared to the 1.14 percent in 2017, figures from the North Africa country’s Office for National Statistics (ONS) have shown.

This growth rate is however, below the IMF’s forecast of 2.5 percent for last year.

According to the office, the growth was spurred by the agriculture, construction, public works, hydraulics, oil and industry, transport and communication sectors.

During the period under review, non-oil GDP grew from 2.2 percent in 2017 to 3.4 percent thanks namely to the construction, public works, hydraulics, market services, industry and agriculture sectors.
