Leading digital money transfer service WorldRemit has partnered with Huawei in a deal availing its remittance service to all partners of Huawei’s mobile money service platform across Africa.
It will enable Huawei to add a ready-made solution for remittances, a growing mobile money product offering, to its existing suite of services.
“By making it easier to connect to our service, our partnership will accelerate our ability to introduce our safe, fast and low-cost remittance service,” said Ismail Ahmed, Founder and CEO of WorldRemit.
The partnership will as well improve access to mobile money remittances for millions of people across the continent by connecting more than 100 million mobile accounts on Huawei’s platform.
David Chen, VP of Huawei Southern Africa noted the importance of international remittance as a mobile money service in Africa and reiterated Huawei’s commitment to providing advanced mobile money platforms and technologies to global mobile money operators.
Huawei’s mobile money services platform is designed to help deliver basic banking transactions in developing countries; an inclusive technology that works on both smartphones and basic handsets and have been particularly successful in developing markets.
With this deal, WorldRemit becomes the first international remittance company to partner directly with Huawei. It is expected to accelerate WorldRemit’s technical integrations with new mobile money operators.
