Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing Company Limited (JSM), a syringe making multinational, is set to establish a $30 million syringe factory in Akwa Ibom State in the South-South region of Nigeria.
The factory, which will be situated on four hectares of land in Awa Village, is expected to become the first-ever syringe-making establishment in Nigeria.
It will be the largest in Africa and will make Nigeria not only self-sufficient in syringe production but also a net exporter of the product, said Mr. Zubeyir Gulabi, the Managing Director of JSM.
JSM will start production with an initial capacity of 350 million units with a target to double this to 700 million units within the first year of operation, a report by ThisDay confirmed.
On why the company chose Nigeria for its investment, Gulabi said the demand locally and the government’s interest in meeting their needs within the sector were key factors behind their decision.
