Tuskys Partners with Local and International Suppliers in $4 Million Drive Aimed at Boosting Retail Sector Activity in Kenya

Kenya-based regional retailer, Tusker Mattresses, has partnered with leading local and international suppliers, to launch a customer reward campaign aimed at increasing the group’s revenues while boosting activity in the country’s retail sector.

Suppliers providing retail products and brands such as Samsung, LG, Kabras Sugar, Menengai Soap Ohms, Luminarc, OSRAM, Moulinex, Regal, Tefal, Beko, Jikokoa and Redberry, have supported the Tuskys Gigantic Sale to a tune of more than Ksh400 million (about $4 million) in the last seven weeks.

Other suppliers, including consumer goods manufacturers such as Hotpoint, Ramtons, Kings Collection, Slumberland, Vitafoam, Dettol, Brookside, Dawaat, Mortein Doom, Rina cooking oil, Soko Ugali, Huggies, Kenchic, Harpic and Persil, have also been part of the initiative.

The campaign, slated for the coming weekend at the end of August, 2018, will take place in Kenya’s Nairobi, Juja, Eldoret and Kisumu areas. The event will act as the final leg for an ongoing drive dubbed the ‘Tuskys Gigantic Sale’, with attractive discounts of up to 50% on a range of retail products.

Speaking when he confirmed the scheduled sale, known as the ‘Black Friday’ ecent, which is scheduled to kick off on Thursday next week, Tusker Mattresses Group CEO, Mr. Dan Githua said the firm will be hosting the ‘Tuskys Gigantic Sale Grand Finale’ throughout the weekend.

Githua stated that the affair has received a major boost from leading local and international suppliers who are providing quality electronics, furniture and related household goods for sale.

He explained that their support has served to inspire the recovery of the local retail market which had suffered a slowdown in 2017.

“The recovery of the local retail market has enjoyed the support of our partners who are providing quality in-season merchandise for sale during the Tuskys Gigantic Sale Grand Finale that kicks off on Thursday through to Sunday. This is not a clearance sale. All the items on offer are in-season items presented for sale by suppliers keen to appreciate the support of our customers,” Githua added.

Over the last 4 weeks Tusker Mattresses, popularly known as Tuskys, has successfully carried in-store activations across the country.

Globally, retailers are revisiting the role of sales promotions to accelerate growth in the sector. According to a recent report by Kantar Worldpanel, a global research expert for the shopping industry, retailers in the UK are revisiting promotions to win their customers hearts and enhance growth.

In Kenya, the Tuskys Gigantic Sale has served to break new ground for Tusker Mattresses, which has already reported a more than 70% business growth on all fronts including customer footfall and transactions.

“The Tusky’s Gigantic Sale is shaping up to be our biggest yet. In this difficult economic times, it is always refreshing to be able to give back to our valued customers in the form of discounted prices,” said Githua.
