The search is on to find and support the next generation of start-ups working to make the world a better place by Chivas Regal.

Launched in 2014, the Chivas Venture has been annually investing one million dollars in social entrepreneurs changing the world and has to date received almost 6,000 applications.

Applications for the 2018 edition are now open in Kenya and in 29 countries from five continents in total.

One winner will be selected from each country and given the chance to take part in an exclusive Accelerator Programme which will be followed by three weeks of online public voting where the winner will receive the first $200, 000 of the fund.

The remainder of the fund will be distributed at a series of high-steak pitches at the Chivas Venture 2018 Final.

The 2017 competition saw three African start-ups selected among the 30 finalists for the venture funding.

I-Drop Water from South Africa emerged the 3rd joint winner taking home a $50, 000 award. The company installs water purification and dispensing units at the point of sale where shoppers refill water containers, reducing plastic waste in a cost-effective way which is 80 per cent cheaper than bottled water.

The funding will enable the company grow its fleet of I-Drop units and expand into markets outside South Africa where its innovative product and business model are required.

Applications for the Chivas Venture 2018 will close on 30th October 2017.
