Nairobi Garage has announced that it is opening a new branch in Westlands to meet the growing demand for quality working space in Nairobi on December 1st 2015, Footprint to Africa reports.
The new Garage has a capacity of 400 desks, a number of team rooms, meeting rooms and an event space.
Hannah Clifford, General Manager, Nairobi Garage said, “We also aim to make it easier for incoming entrepreneurs and investors from overseas who want to get a foothold in Africa. What you get with the Garage is a ready-made and very active community of innovators, looking to learn with and help one another.”
The garage is located at the Mirage on Waiyaki Way with 25,000 square foot in total, the Westlands branch is expected to host around 70 companies with superfast internet, an in-house café, and a series of events and workshops.
Multinational firm Uber and Nigeria’s Terragon Group have already signed up for the Westlands space for its location. The Garage concept was born out of 88mph’s tech accelerator and is also present in Cape Town and Lagos.
Recently, Garage partnered with Nest to allow entreprenuers from Africa to get a headstart in Asia as well as those from Asia to have a similar foothold in Africa.
Innovation in Nairobi, Footprint to Africa learnt has been a one street-business with most hubs spread along the popular Ngong Road area of town away from the busy central business district and the Westlands area where majority of deal making happens.
