Former Head of Enterprise Sales and Retention at Safaricom Limited, Tonny Tugee has been appointed the head of SEACOM Business in Kenya and its Service Provider segment for East Africa.
The pan-African telecom enabler and cloud-service provider launched SEACOM Business services for corporate customers in August 2016.
As at May 2017, SEACOM had connected over 1, 000 new enterprise customers in Kenya and South Africa through interconnect agreements with last-mile suppliers and wireless network access in areas without last-mile fibre.
“Tugee has the intimate knowledge of the Kenyan telecom market and the leadership skills we require to deliver the exceptional customer experience that East African enterprises deserve from their telecom partners,” said Byron Clatterbuck, SEACOM’s Chief Executive Officer.
At Safaricom, the seasoned telecoms executive’s department was charged with growing and retaining revenues in the business-to-business, business-to-government and wholesale/carrier development.
Tugee will have strategic and operational sales oversight over SEACOM’s business across East Africa as the regional Head of Sales for Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda, leading a team of experienced ICT professionals to drive the uptake of the company’s connectivity and cloud services across the region.
He will also serve as spokesman for SEACOM Business in Kenya.
Tugee’s appointment is aligned with the firm’s “commitment to appoint world-class talent with local market experience” to drive its expansion across the continent.
