The Minister of Hotels and Tourism (Minhotur), Paulino Baptista, on Tuesday recommended the intensification of inspections of travel and tourism agencies to better serve the sector in the country.
This recommendation was expressed when the minister opened the IX Consultative Council of the Ministry, which is running on 16-17 May, under the motto “Role of tourism in the diversification of the economy”.
Without travel agency there is no tourism, said the minister, referring to the need for provinces to facilitate the emergence of agencies and rent-a-car services.
He also pointed to the need to approve projects of three-star hotels and resorts so that internal tourism can be dynamic.
The official also said that to boost the Angolan tourism in the international arena, hard work must be done in order to facilitate entry visas in the country.
He also pointed out that the “Angola 2025” development strategy will promote a tourism development model that will ensure environmental quality and social cohesion.
These guidelines, explained the minister, evolved to the approval of the tourism master plan in 2011, for a period of nine years, whose strategic axes of development entail the enrichment of supply, promotion and distribution, as well as urban and environmental quality.‎
