Tanzania hopes to woo international investors as the country concludes the 4th edition of its Swahili International Tourism Expo (S!TE 2018) the East African nation’s leading International indoor expo.
The Expo was held this past weekend at Julius Nyerere International Conference Center in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The affair gave international buyers and travel agents an opportunity to visit three East African tourism fairs during one business trip, and to enjoy farm trips in between the fairs.
The Expo, which is part of an initiative by the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), hosted buyers from India, Zimbabwe and Uganda. The buyers were treated to a farm trip in Mufindi, Iringa, which is part of the Hapuyo Sub-County in Uganda.
Dar es Salaam is a vibrant, fast growing African city. It the business capital of United Republic of Tanzania. The city is known as the traffic hub for all Indian Ocean and East African countries.
S!TE 2018 hosted more than 150 exhibitors from more than 13 different African countries, including Tanzania Mainland, Zanzibar, Kenya, and other East and Southern African countries.
The Expo focused on inbound and outbound travel business to and within Africa. Hundreds of Travel & Tourism professionals from all over the world attended the three-day expo.
A well-managed Hosted Buyer program showcased the travel possibilities in Tanzania – within & beyond the well-known attractions in 16 National Parks, around Mount Kilimanjaro and on the beautiful beach Island of Zanzibar, conservation & sustainable tourism, as well as tropical tourism and traveling within East Africa, were additional subjects of promotion at S!TE 2018.
The Expo provided a new and effective trade fair concept to connect the business-to-business (B2B) travel industry with major stakeholders from across the sector.
Tanzania hopes that this year’s edition of the event will make the country a more competitive tourism hub for East Africa.
