TradeMark East Africa (TMEA) has partnered with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to facilitate faster clearance of migrants across border posts in East Africa by implementing a border project in the Great Lakes region.

Regional trade lobby organization TMEA has facilitated construction of 13 One Stop Border Posts in the six East African countries and the adoption of one stop controls that bring officials from neighbouring countries under one roof, enabling those crossing the border

The partnership will provide integrated solutions for safe and orderly movement of both people and goods and in collaboration with government agencies, will provide integrated border management processes covering customs, standards and human mobility.

It will leverage IOM’s experience in ensuring the orderly and humane movement of migration and finding practical solutions to migration problems.

TMEA and IOM plan on implementing the project in other areas in future.
