The Dangote Group and Black Rhino have signed an agreement with the Kano State Government to build a 100 MW solar power plant.
The plant is to be located in Zakai, Gabsawa Local Government Area. Secretary to the Kano State Government, Usman Alhaji Usman signed on behalf of the government while Engineer Mansur Ahmed signed on behalf of the Dangote group, Nairametrics reported.
A recent report by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) showed industries spent N136 billion generating power for themselves.
Regular power, therefore, will reduce the cost of operations for industries operating in the city as energy sourcing makes up a significant chunk of the operating costs for many industries.
Kano is one of Nigeria’s industrial cities and is often called the commercial capital of Northern Nigeria. It houses a number of manufacturing firms drawn from a diverse pool of sectors including agriculture, food, household items, consumables, and textile.
