Kenyan mobile service provider Telkom has began setting up a fibre loop in Mombassa after confirming plans to invest over half-a-million dollars in internet expansion within the region.
The move, as confirmed by Business Daily Africa, is to meet the company’s growing demand for faster internet in the Coastal region for both businesses and individuals. It is also meant to improve the quality of service to its customers
A fibre loop is a channel which allows connection of many servers and computer storage devices without using costly fibre switches.
Telkom Chief Excecutive Officer Mugo Kibati told Business Daily Africa that firm would set up the loops across every large town in the country as it seeks to position itself as the leading service provider in Kenya.
